gLocal Evaluation Week 2026

3-4 June 2026 · Global Evaluation Initiative

We took part in gLocal Evaluation Week 2026, the Global Evaluation Initiative’s worldwide week of free evaluation events, themed this year “Evaluation, Evidence and Trust in the Age of AI.” We ran two sessions, one for each of our tools.

QualiaInterviews: an introduction (3 June)

Gabriele and Steve introduced QualiaInterviews to a mostly Portuguese-speaking audience: what it is, when AI-conducted interviews make sense (and when they don’t), how the EU/non-EU data toggle works, and a live demo where people in the audience could try being interviewed by Qualia themselves.

Causal Map 4: a training session (4 June)

We ran a 90-minute training session on Causal Map 4: how to turn a stack of interviews, reports or open survey answers into a theory of change you can actually defend. The core idea we kept coming back to: AI does the patient clerical work of finding every causal claim and attaching its quote, and you do the judging, deciding what the evidence actually means. We also used the session to soft-launch AI coding in Causal Map 4.

Who came along

Both sessions drew a properly global crowd, among them UNICEF, UNDP, WHO, the World Bank, GIZ and CARE, plus a long list of evaluation societies and independent consultants from across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, and several people taking their first proper look at causal mapping.

Thanks to everyone who came along, asked questions, and shared what they’re working on. If anything we covered would be useful for your own evaluation, get in touch.
